In this instructable I want to show you how to make fresh peach cobbler. This is a staple in my kitchen and one of my all time favorites. Being from Georgia, we're quite fond of peaches and ice cream so this recipe is a hit with almost everyone around! Step 1: Ingredients
- ¼ C Salted Butter
- 3 Fresh Peaches (peeling and sliced)
- ½ C Sugar (divide in half)
- ½ t Vanilla
- ½ T Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ t Ground Cinnamon
- ½ C All-purpose Flour
- ½ T Baking Powder
- ½ C Milk
Step 2: Melt Butter
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Add butter in a 9x6 (or similar size) baking dish and melt in the oven, once the butter is melted, pull it out of the oven and set aside for later use.
Step 3: Peel and Slice Fresh Peaches
While the butter is melting in the oven, you can begin to peel the fresh peaches. (I use a peeler) You could also use a knife of course. Once peeled, go ahead and slice the peaches to about 1" to 1/2" inch in size.
Step 4: Combine Ingredients
In a medium size saucepan add in the peaches, ¼ cup of sugar, vanilla, lemon juice and cinnamon.
Step 5: Mix and Boil
Mix together gentle until your mixture comes to a boil, everything will begin to melt and become nice and juicy! After it has come to a boil, turn off heat and set aside.
Step 6: Combine Dry Ingredients
In a medium size bowl add flour, ¼ cup sugar, baking powder stir till combined and add your milk, mix until everything is combined.
Step 7: Add Milk to Dry Ingredients and Mix.
Add milk to the mixture and whisk toghether until everything is incorporated, it should be nice and creamy smooth once all the ingredients are combined.
Step 8: Pour Mixture Onto Melted Butter
Pour your flour mixture over your melted butter. Very Important (DO NOT STIR!!!). That's just the nature of the cobbler :)
Step 9: Add Peach Mixture Onto Flour.
Next add the peach mixture over the flour mixture, again DO NOT STIR!!! So, the cobble should be in this order: melted butter, flour batter, peaches.
Step 10: Bake Until Golden Brown!
Place your baking dish over a cookie sheet just in case anything runs over. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is lovely golden brown.
Step 11: Cool and Enjoy!
Cool slightly. Enjoy with vanilla ice cream!
