Hot Dog Pirate Ships

Introduction: Hot Dog Pirate Ships

These foam pirate ships to serve your hot dogs in, are a cute addition to a pirate or halloween party.

Step 1: Cutting

I started with a large sheet of black foam that you can buy at any craft store. You can make 4 ships with each sheet of foam.

1.Cut it horizontally.
2.Cut it vertically.

Step 2: Forming the Ship

1. Fold one rectangle in half. Mark with chalk where you will cut. You might have to play with this, but on my ships I cut a triangle with both legs measuring about 1 in. off. I would recommend making one, testing it and then using it as your template.
2. Cut.
3. Staple all along the side, leaving only the top of your ship open.

Step 3: Folding

1. Turn it right side out.
2. Fold down the top until it reaches the bottom of the ship. So in half. This will help your ship stand up on it's own.
3. Crease it real good.
4. Add stickers and a flag taped or glued onto a straw. You could also use popscile sticks, but the bendy part of the straw hold the flag nicely and we had them on hand.

Pretty cool, the only thing I'd do differently is use a tooth pick for the mast, although you wouldn't get a lot of height. Maybe if you took some wooden skewers and broke them in half, idk, just throwing some ideas at ya :P
