Introduction: How To: Create a Half Tester Style Bed Canopy

What you’ll need:

Contemporary 4 Poster Bed 2290
Red Velvet Curtains 5777
Timber Lengths, 12 pieces 610 x 10 x 6mm 5995
Tenon saw / Mitre block
Pencil/ ruler
A hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Dark Wood Stain
Small paint brush

Step 1:

Begin by customising the Red Velvet Curtains 5777 by removing the gold fringe around the pelmet.

Then cut off the shaped front of the pelmet using a pair of scissors to straighten it off. Tuck the remaining fabric under the pelmet to create a straight pelmet front.

Step 2:

Then strengthened the pelmet by adding a Timber Length 5995 to the back of the front of the pelmet - I secured it using a hot glue gun.

WARNING! Be Careful not to burn your fingers when using a hot glue gun as the heat carries through the fabric.

Step 3:

Now that the pelmet is ready, it’s time to add the additional height to the Contemporary 4 Poster Bed 2290

Please be aware! You must measure the ceiling height of the room you intend to put your Contemporary 4 Poster Bed 2290 into as you are adding additional height to the bed.

Other things to consider include whether the room has a ceiling light - and if the walls have cornice - as both may have an impact on the ceiling height: remember, you may have to get the canopy bed past the ceiling light!

Once I measured the height of the room I cut up two pieces of Timber Length 5995. I then glued these to the head posts of the bed using a hot glue gun.

WARNING! Be Careful not to burn your fingers when using a hot glue gun.

Step 4:

Once I was happy that the glue had set I attached the customised Red Velvet Curtains 5777 to the bed again using a hot glue gun.

Meanwhile, to finish off the front of the pelmet I cut some more Timber 5995 and I stained the pieces using a small brush and dark wood stain.

Once this was dry I attached it to the front of the pelmet to finish off.

Your Half Tester Style Bed Canopy is now complete, Well Done!
