Breathing meditation is one of the simplest yet powerful ways to calm your mind and body. It also has the added benefit of clearing out your lungs.
There are many ways to do a breathing meditation. Here is a very simple method to get you started.
Step 1: Get Comfy
Get yourself comfy, either seated or led down. Make sure the place you are in is an adequate temperature. Subdue the lighting if this helps you, and maybe even burn some incense.
Step 2: Hands on Your Abdomen
Place your hands on your abdomen and feel it move as you breathe.
Step 3: Breathing
Breathe slowly and deeply. In through your nose, and out through your mouth.
Step 4: Counting
Count on every out breath until you reach ten. Then start back at zero.
Step 5: Feel the Sensations
Focus on your breathing. Notice how your breath feels cool when you inhale, and warmer when you exhale. Listen to the unique sounds breathing makes within your body.
Step 6: Enjoy!
