Introduction: How to Glow With Citrus

Lemons, grapefruit and many of the citrus family are available throughout the year. For some reason during the summer months I gravitate more towards these round lovely delights. These fruits are great for face brighteners and scrubs. They are full of antioxidants and vitamin C which reduces damage to the skin caused by free radicals. The Alpha hydroxy found in citrus fruits is a natural exfoliant. The following two citrus treatments will brighten and soften your skin.

Step 1: Lemon Eraser

Benefits of Lemon for the skin

Lemon is a great natural astringent and an antiseptic. Lemon can also help reduce the excess of oil in the skin without completely stripping it because we still need oil in our skin.

Lemon Eraser

Ingredients
Half of a lemon
Teaspoon of honey

This is as easy as it gets when you come to d.i.y skin remedies and the results will have you telling everybody! Take one half of a lemon and pour a teaspoon of honey over the lemon. Take the lemon and rub it on your face especially around the blackheads. Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse with cool water. This Lemon Eraser is great for lightening the skin also! I would highly recommend doing the lemon eraser at night because lemon is very acidic and will make your skin sensitive to the sun and will irritate your skin.

Step 2: Grapefruit Glow Scrub

Benefits of grapefruit for the skin

The grapefruit is high in vitamin C and that is extremely important in collagen production it helps bring smoothness and elasticity to the skin. Grapefruit contains amino acid helping the skin become more firm and soft. An added bonus of the grapefruit is that it will help tone the face while still being refreshing to the skin.

Grapefruit Glow Scrub

Ingredients
1/2cup of sugar
1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil
Squeeze 1/2 of a grapefruit in a small bowl

Directions
In a small bowl pour 1/2 cup of sugar and add a tablespoon of grapeseed oil and squeeze 1/2 of a grapefruit in a bowl. Mix it with a spoon in the bowl and stop to enjoy the smell. Next put a handful of the scrub in your hand and rub it over your face making sure you avoid your eyes. Make sure you focus on the nose and on your chin because that is where dead skin cells accumulate, in the crevices. Wash the scrub off with a warm towel and use your favorite moisturizer to finish the treatment. You should do this scrub weekly to get the maximum results.
