How to Make Doctor Who's Psychic Paper

Introduction: How to Make Doctor Who's Psychic Paper

About: I love woodworking and making fun stuff on the lathe, I really enjoy making stuff and posting it on this website, and I love the Hobbit

I made a sonic screwdriver a while back and I figured that doctor who's psychic paper would go great with it! So I messed around for a while and finally got the right look to it. Follow these steps on how to make it for yourself!

Step 1: What You'll Need

You will need the following:

black fabric
hot glue gun
card stock
white paper
a ruler
scissors
a pen

Step 2: Cutting the Right Size Paper.

I first cut out 2 rectangles of card stock that were 5 inches by 3 inches. Then, I cut out a smaller rectangle that was 2 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches out of white paper.

Step 3: Fabric Time!

Now, I cut out 2 rectangles of black fabric that were the same size as the 2 big rectangles of card stock put together and I glued them to both sides of the card stock. Basically, you wrap the 2 rectangles in 2 rectangles of cloth.

Step 4: White Paper!

Finally, I glued the white paper to the top half of the inside of the black, cloth, wallet-like thing and I folded it in half and that is the finished product! Enjoy!

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is this used for and why is it called psychic doctor?

Another way of saying it is that the user of whomever holds the psychic paper pictures in their mind what they want the paper to say to the person they're showing it to. In one instance, the Doctor shows "traveling papers" to an authority figure saying that they're some big monarch figure.

In other episodes, the psychic paper can receive messages on where the Doctor should go. It's normally requests for help.

Sometimes, the psychic paper doesn't work, if the lie is too big for the Doctor, or if the person seeing the paper is trained to see past it or if they're a true genius. (Torchwood employees have psychic training and William Shakespeare saw a blank piece of paper)

Hope this helped, and if I made you more confused...sorry!

very nice. While simple and easy, a great prop addition to a costume/cosplay.
