The how to guide on how to tie your shoes with one hand!
Start with a pre-tied knot. This is something we decided to start with because it can be done easily without the device as the first step.
Now take the device and orientate it perpendicular to the shoe. While using only fingers, slide each lace into the side slot on each side with the laces vertical. [One lace per slot]. Then once the laces are in the side slots, then you layer the laces over themselves again just like the previous part of this step in order to make "Bunny Ears".
Then simply, turn the device to where it is parallel to the floor and perpendicular to the way the shoe faces and pull upwards to ensure tightness.
Then to have the most mobility, pull the side of both laces at the aglet towards the ground in order to put the top of the "Bunny Ears" flush with the top face of the device.
Next, turn the device counter-clockwise. After the turn ensure that the lace on the left side is over the lace on the right side. Then after that turn put two fingers (preferably the ring finger and the middle finger) underneath the intersection of both laces.
Next, while you just had your two fingers holding the hole under the intersection, replace those fingers with your thumb and the top of the bottom side of the intersection. Now turn the device parallel with the shoe.
Now where your thumb was slide the side of the device that is closer to you through the loop while leaving the middle of the device in the knot of laces.
Next, separate the device either pulling it apart left or right. Now with a finger in each hole pull them apart from each other; tightening the device.
Finally, we have tied the shoes. All that is needed to be done is removing the laces from the device. So grab each lace one at a time and separate the lace by simply pulling the aglet.
Step 10: 3-D Printing Specifications
When 3-D printing, in order for the product to be perfect without any design flaws, there is a specific way the device needs to be printer.
- Use PLA filament instead of PETG because the PETG wouldn't harden completely before each new pass and caused warping.
- 50% density print of product
