Last week while I was on my way back home, I couldn't find a cab. I called my mom to book a cab using her mobile but she couldn't. She knew about Uber, she knew it's icon too but she had no idea how to use it. And there was me, who neither had a smartphone, nor the internet connectivity and was just waiting in that area for a cab. Isn't that unsafe?

So, I thought of writing out an Instructable for people like her so that they cab book cabs for their near ones, at least in times of need!

For those who don't know about Uber, it's an application that helps you to book a cab.

Step 1: Download the App

Go to Playstore
Write Uber in the search panel
Find the Uber application (look for it's logo)
Click on "Install" button (Since I've already installed it, it shows two options"Uninstall" and "Open")

Step 2: Launch the App

Find the Uber icon in you phone
Turn on your GPS so that it can detect your location
Enter your pickup address if the location automatically tracked is not correct
Enter your drop-off address

Step 3: Choose the Type of Ride

Uber provides different types of rides of which UberPOOL and UberGO are the most common ones.

The simple rule is if you're traveling alone or with one friend, book a POOL. In this facility, someone else will share a cab with you and the fare will be low.

If you are a group of 4, book a GOcab. The will be all yours and you don't need to share it with anyone else.

Some customers are also provided with UsebPASS, especially those who have zero cancellation fee.

UberX and UberXL are usually planned well before, so I'm going to skip those parts.

Step 4: Confirm Booking

Make sure the facility you choose for is active. For example, the button should read "Request UberPOOL" if you are booking a POOLcab and "Request UberGO" id you're booking a GOcab.

If you're booking a POOL, it'll ask you to confirm the number of seats. 1 or 2?

If it's a GOcab, it'll give you 4 options. 1,2,3 or 4?

Once the number of seats is confirmed, it'll ask you to confirm your pickup address. You can adjust it on the map if it's not pointing to the correct location.

Once you click on "Confirm Pickup" it'll start finding your ride. Wait for some time and it'll show the name and picture of your driver along with the number of the cab.

Step 5: Cancelling a Cab

Sometimes after you book a cab, you find out that the address you put in was not correct or you no longer wish to go. In that case, you need to cancel your booking.

If you cancel your booking, you'll be either partially charged or a cancellation fee will be applied on your next ride.

Step 6: Rate Your Service

Once your trip is complete, the next time when you launch the Uber app, you'll be asked to rate the experience. Always give out ratings. It helps to develop the service.

Step 7: Adding Saved Places

If you're traveling to the place frequently, save it using "Add to my Saved Places". Give it a suitable name so that you can identify it the next time.

You'll see the option when you will be entering your drop-off address the next time.

This is just a short description on how to book your cab. The application has a lot more options using which you can apply promo codes/coupons, ask for help, log out from the app on your device and I hope you discover all those features after you become familiar with the app. Happy riding!
