How to Create a Monkey's Fist Knot

This is a short tutorial on how to create the Monkey's Fist knot.

Step 1: Wrap String Around Hand

Get a string or rope of around 2-3 feet in length. Wrap this around the top of your hand with around 4 inches hanging off one side.

Step 2: Wrap Three Times Around

Wrap the string around your hand 3 times.

Step 3: Put String Through the Created Hole

Take the string and place it through the created hole.

Step 4: Wrap Three Times Around

Wrap it three times around the string on your fingers.

Step 5: Put String Through Created Hole

Place it through the newly created hole.

Step 6: Wrap Three Times Around

Wrap it three times around the previously created loop.

Step 7: Remove From Hand

Take the string off your hand and set it down.

Step 8: Place Smaller End Into Center

Tuck the shorter string in the knot to hide it. When you tuck the string in the center, it should leave a small loop.

Step 9: Tighten String One Loop at a Time

Using the small loop you just created, continue pulling and removing the excess length loop by loop following the string to the end. This should make the knot tight.

Step 10: Finished!

When complete you will have one long string with a large Monkey's Fist knot at the end.
