I was a little hesitant initially when I was contacted about hanging a wall mural, but I am so happy that I did. It’s full of beautiful florals, and unlike wallpaper which tends to come off in layers, this is digitally printed and doesn’t come apart too easily.

Let's get started with the tutorial!

Step 1: The Whole Process in a Video

You Will Need:

Paste brush/roller
Sugar Soap and cloth
Paste the wall wallpaper adhesive
Basin/bucket for mixing pasteScales (depending on how much you will be hanging)
Something to use for stirring
We used a shower squeegee to ensure even paste distribution after hangingStepladder/sturdy stool
Spirit level
Pencil
Safety Ruler
Sharp Knife
Cutting Mat
Two cloths (one dry and one damp)

Step 2: The Steps:

STEP 1:

Prepare your wall using sugar soap and a cloth. Sugar soap removes and dust and grime, and I use it before every wall decorating project.

Allow to dry.

STEP 2: As you all the wall to dry off, you can unroll the wall mural, cut the instruction guide from the top and set aside. Then cut the rest of the strips. Use a safety ruler, knife and cutting mat to ensure a straight cut.

STEP 3:
Prepare the ‘paste the wall’ wallpaper paste, as per instructions. When ready, apply to the wall and hang your first strip. Use your spirit level to ensure you are hanging it straight. Work from left to right.

STEP 4: Use a dry cloth to rub over the top of the wall mural and reposition until it’s completely straight and you are happy with how it looks. At this point, we used a squeegee to gently rub over the top of the wall mural to ensure an even distribution of paste.

STEP 5: Repeat step four, and reposition until the wall mural lines up with its previous pattern. Use a damp cloth to remove any excess paste that comes out the sides of the paper. Do not rub too hard though as you don’t want to remove any of the digital print.
