Introduction: How to Install Minecraft Mods.

About: I enjoy walking on the beach while the sunset is just dieing and Barney has yet to find his AK that I hid in the bushes. Don't ask me that was the police report.

Hi there. This is my first Instructable and I believe that this instructable is very long overdue. I hope you can understand me and I hope that you can install some mods for your game. In this Instructable I will be referring to a windows model computer because that is what I run the game on.

Step 1: Do You Have Minecraft?

You have to have Minecraft computer edition to do this so if you don't, why are you even reading this? If you do have Minecraft computer edition then continue onto step number two.

Step 2: Forge Mod Loader

When you are first installing mods, I would recommend using Forge as the loader. Forge is a user friendly piece of software that will help you use your new mods. Make sure you pick the download that fits the version of minecraft that you wish to modify, depending on what the mods you pick and the forge you pick decides what version you have to use. Download the version you want and continue to the next step.

Step 3: Running Forge

When you finish downloading Forge, go to your downloads folder, or wherever you saved it, and run Forge. When you run it, there will be a display that asks you how you want to download Forge. Pick client side and select finish or install.

If you want to install server side mods, I might make another Instructable that addresses that.

Step 4: Running Minecraft

After you first install forge, you need to run minecraft with it. When you get on the minecraft launcher, you need to create a new profile. Once you do that go to edit profile and head down to it says Use Version and scroll down to the bottom of the drop down menu. Look for something like 'Release (Version Number)-Forge'. Click on that then run minecraft with that version selected. The very first time you load minecraft with Forge, it should say 4 mods loaded in the bottom left hand corner. Now close out minecraft.

Step 5: Get You Mods Ready.

Go onto the interwebs and find the mods you want for minecraft. Make sure that you have found mods that are the same version as the version of Minecraft you want to run with.

Step 6: Finding the Mods Folder.

Search on your computer for a folder called '%AppData%'. Once you get to Appdata, find a folder called '.minecraft'. Inside that folder there should be a folder labeled 'mods'.

*** For windows 8 users, search up run and the put %AppData% in the run box instead.

Step 7: Putting in the Mods.

Once you have found the mods folder, put all of your version compliant mods in the folder. Then close out the file explorer and launch forge again with your new profile. Once minecraft has loaded, it should say '(However many mods you added) Mods loaded'. If it does, you have done it, start a new world and get crafting.

Step 8: Thanks!

Thank you for lending me some time to teach you something about minecraft. If you have any questions you can email me and I would be delighted to answer your questions.
