Introduction: How to Make Tom Riddle's Diary From Harry Potter

About: I love horses, polar bears, and Harry Potter!

I will be teaching you how to make a Tom Riddle diary from Harry Potter!

Step 1: Materials

~leather (preferably black)

~Notebook that measures about 5 1/2 in. x 8 1/2 in. (blank white pages, to look like the one from the book)

~gold paint

~black marker

~paintbrush

~scissors

~glue

Step 2: Cutting the Leather

Take your leather (I didn't have black leather so I had to paint it black) and lay the notebook on it. Trace around it, then flip it over so that its laying next to the previously traced rectangle. Make sure you flip it the direction the spine is facing, and leave enough room when you cut so that it fits the spine. Trace the notebook again so you have a big rectangle that covers the the two covers and the spine. Then cut it out.

Step 3: Gluing the Leather

Take the leather and glue it so it covers the front and back cover and the spine. Then take a small rectangle of leather and glue it on the back cover, towards the bottom. (Look at pictures for more detail)

Step 4: Drawing the Template

First, I drew one of the metal triangle corners onto a pice of paper and cut it out. Refer to the pictures to see what it looks like. The size will vary depending on the size of your notebook, so just make sure it lines up with the edges. Mine was about an inch on each side. The details on the inside of the triangle we won't trace, they're just there so we know what to draw.

Step 5: Painting the Corners

Place the corner template on a corner of the book and line it up. Then trace around it so you have the shape in pencil. Take the gold paint and fill in the shape with paint. Then do the other corners. Only paint the outside corners, not the ones near the spine.

Step 6: Adding Details

Refer to the corner template to add the designs on the corners with black paint or a black marker. Do that to all of the gold corners. Do not outline the plus sign shaped shapes with black because we want those to have almost a carved sort of look, but instead just draw them on with pencil.

Step 7: Writing the Name

Turn your book over so that the back cover is facing up (the one with the leather rectangle). Take the gold paint- or a gold marker, which may work better but I don't have one so I will be using paint- and write TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE (in all capital letters) on the leather rectangle. Be sure to use a small brush if using paint. Then just outline the rectangle in gold, but leave some small breaks in the line. Refer to the pictures for more details. After you let that dry, you're done!! I hope you liked this instructable! :)
