How to Make Turkey Burgers

Thanksgiving is around the corner and it is another time for tasty turkey recipes. I had wondered why is it that turkey is a common recipes during thanksgiving day. Maybe someone here can give me the answer.

Anyway, thanksgiving day is a day that is known for much eating than for much thanksgiving. If our founding fathers that started it all were here, I do not think they would have allowed us to focus on more eating, feasting than thanking God for the discovery of a free and independent nation like United States of America.

I think enough of my sermon and let me take you through how to make tasty fried turkey burgers this thanksgiving.

Ingredients

For burgers
1 large shallot, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 lb ground turkey (not labeled "all breast meat")
5 oz extra-sharp Cheddar, cut into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) slices
4 hamburger or kaiser rolls

For sun-dried tomato mayonnaise
1/4 cup oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained
1 tablespoon water
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup mayonnaise

Step 1: Burgers Preparation

Put oven rack in the middle position.Ensure you preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.

Step 2: Step 2

Cook the shallot in oil,salt and pepper in an 8 inch skillet,this should be on moderate heat,stir frequently until it turns golden for 2-3 minutes.Then transfer to bowl.Add the turkey and mix gently but thoroughly.

Step 3: Step 3

Turn out the turkey mixture on sheet of wax paper and divide into 8 equal mounds.Pat 1 mound into a 4 inch patty and top with 1 piece of cheese.You should put the second mound on top,patting it onto other patty to enclose cheese. You then pinch the edge together to seal and shape into a single patty.Make 3 more burgers just the same way.

Step 4: Step 4

Place a well seasoned grilled pan over moderate high heat until very hot but not smoking.Then grill the burgers,turning over once until it is cooked through, that is no longer having pink.This should be for 8-9 minutes.

Step 5: Step 5

While you cook the burgers, heat rolls on a baking sheet on oven until it turn crusty for about 5 minutes.Then transfer rolls to a rack to cool for sometimes.

Step 6: Mayonnaise and Assembly Burgers

Puree tomatoes with water,vinegar and salt in a mini food processor or blender.Scrape down the sides as necessary then blend in mayonnaise.

Step 7:

Cut rolls in half horizontally and spread cut sides with tomato mayonnaise.

Then burgers on roll lettuce.
