Intro: How to Make a Kimbab
In this "How to", we will going to learn how to make a delicious kimbab. Kimbab is a food that you put the ingredients and rice on the dried seaweed, and roll it. This tells us the simple way to make a kimbab! This is a unique food in Korea! Enjoy this How To!
Step 1: Ingredients (for Making Kimbab Ingredients)
We did not consider the amount because our family was going to make it and eat it, so if you want to eat it yourself, you might need to decrease the amount.
First, the ingredients you need:
- Seasoned Burdock*
- Seasoned Radish*
- 7 Eggs
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 Carrot
- Fish bowl*
- SPAM Teriyaki flavor (you can choose which flavor you want)
- Beef meat 250g
- 1 bottle of Vinegar
- Sesame seed
- Dried Seaweed* (there is a specific kind of dried seaweed for kimbab.) (not in the picture)
*You can buy them in the Korean market/shop
Step 2: Preparing Carrot and Cucumber, and Other Ingredients
Then, gently, wash the cucumber and carrot. The carrot's skin needs to be peeled. If the carrot's skin is peeled, then slice the carrot vertically. For cucumber, only slice the seed off. When you are done with that, put the sliced cucumbers in a container, and put vinegar, salt, and sugar. mix well with your hand. put the sliced carrots on a clean container.
Next, put 11 eggs (or more, or less. If your friends/ your family is less than 5 people, use it less. If more, do more! ) into a measuring cup. Gently mix it with a fork.
Step 3: Cook the Rice
Wash rice, and then put it in the electronic pressure rice cooker. Set the timer so the electronic pressure rice cooker can cook fast.
Step 4: Cut SPAM
Now, take the SPAM out of its container, and wash it gently. Then, cut it like the picture.
Step 5: Cooking the Carrots, Cucumbers, SPAM, Meat, and Egg
First, ready a pan. It is more better if you got a pan that is bit square and large just like in the picture. If you got it, great. Put the top side (more shallower), and cook carrot, fish cake, and SPAM. You need to cook it individually.
Then, place the beef on a small pot, and put crushed garlic and soy sauce, and sugar. Cook it.
Next, fry the egg. The egg needs to be covering up the whole pan.
Step 6: Seasoning the Rice
Now, season the rice with 1 teaspoon of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
Step 7: All Ready
Now the final ingredients for making kimbab is ready, let's make it!
Step 8: Making Kimbab
First, place a seaweed. Then, place rice. It has to be 2 centimeters thick. Then put sliced egg, sliced SPAM, and sliced fish cake. Next, put carrots, cucumbers, seasoned radish, and seasoned burdock. Roll it. Nice! You made a kimbab!
You can also add cheese, kimchi (Korean spicy fermented cabbage), ham, sausage, or fish (sliced).
