Today I will show you how to make a Lemon Honey Bun cake. Enjoy & please leave any tips you may have to make my next instructable better.
Step 1: Ingredients
1 box of cake mix of your choice
4 large eggs
3/4 to 1 cup of regular or canola oil
8 ounce sour cream
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar(dark)
2 cups of confectioners sugar
2 tsp of vanilla extract
2 tbsp. of milk
9x13 baking pan
Step 2: Mixing
In the mixing step you will mix 3 different things to make this cake a success.
Step 1: You will mix ingredients to make the actual cake. Add eggs, canola oil, sour cream & cake mix of your choice in large mixing bowl. Stir well so that all lumps and cake mix is a solid.
Step 2: Mix 2 tsp cinnamon & brown sugar. I use 1/2 cup brown sugar because I find, when using a full up; it tends to be a little sweeter than I desire. You can definitely use the full up if you prefer. These ingredients will make the filling. The filling will be use to coat the bottom of the pan to make a crunchy layer.
Step 3: Making the glaze for the top of cake. Mix 2 cups of confectioners sugar, 2 tsp of vanilla extract, & 2 tbsp of milk. When adding milk you want to be very careful not to add to much.
Step 3: Baking
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Sprinkle bottom of pan with cinnamon & brown sugar mix.
Add remaining cake mixture to pan.
with a knife, make long swirls throughout cake.
Bake for 40-25 minutes
while the cake is baking make glaze and set aside. I like to make my glaze as soon as I get the cake in the oven. I like to think it becomes more flavorful.
Step 4: Add Glaze to Cake
This is what you glaze should look like & how you should pour it through you swirled baked cake.
Step 5: Final Step
Once cake is done, pour glaze on top while still hot. Let cool & serve. EATING WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM WILL BE EVEN BETTER.
