Hello world! Pi here! I have a blog! picraft64.com
Many internet hosts cost money and are difficult to understand and use. In this instructable I will show you how to make one easily in a very short period of time for free.
Please note that it certainly is possible to take a longer period of time, time will just make your site better.
Teachers! Did you use this instructable in your classroom?
Add a Teacher Note to share how you incorporated it into your lesson.
Step 1: What You'll Need
-A Github account (if you don't have one that's fine, we go over that.)
-Whatever device you're viewing this on
Step 2: Get a GitHub.com Account
Really simple here, just go to their website and create an account.
GitHub is a great tool for sharing, creating, and learning to code.
This should take only a few minutes.
Step 3: Create New Repository
Click the button to create a repository, and name it "username".github.io (username being your username, not in quotation marks)
Anything else will not work
Step 4: Put Stuff on Your Site
Note: this is where things can go over the 5 minute mark
Click settings and launch the automatic page generator
Once there, you will be presented with a menu and an input box
Here are some basic things to put in there( try and cut-paste this in as a test)
# Insert title here
## Insert subtitle here
### insert smaller subtitle here
insert text here
insert text here
Obviously this isn't going to be great, but you can change it up to suit your needs, example below.
# Random business
## what do we do again?
### oh well, I forget...
Step 5: Finishing Touches
Click continue to layouts and choose a design
Note: you can go into settings and change this and the text on your site later the same way you made it
Once you've chosen, click publish
Find your site at username.github.io (once again username being your username)
If you want, you can purchase a custom domain name and link it to this site (I did)
Step 6: Thanks!
If you liked this then thanks!
