do you want to make wooden spoon at home? Well if you do this is your step by step hand book to making a homemade wooden spoon.

Step 1: Find the Wood You Will Be Using

Find a piece of wood that will fit the size and shape of the spoon you want to make. Try to find wood that harder than balsa but not to hard.

Step 2: Draw the Outline of Your Spoon

On the piece of wood you are using draw the outline of the spoon you want to carve. make sure there is enough room on the wood to work with. On the side draw how you want to spoon to look and how deep you want to bowl (scoop part) of the spoon to be. on the top of the piece of wood draw how you want to spoon to be shaped from a top view.

Step 3: Carve the Bowl of the Spoon

start carving by removing the wood that is in the bowl (scoop part) of the spoon with a rounded chisel or spoon gouge. carve the bowl until it is a few millimeters above the line you made on the side of the wood as the outline for the rest of the spoon.

Step 4: Cut the Rough Outline

cut around the line you made on the top of the wood using a hand saw or jigsaw.

Step 5: Cut the Side View of Your Spoon

cut the handle of your spoon to the shape you want it to be roughly.

Step 6: Finalize Your Spoon Shape

using a dremel, sand paper, or a sanding wheel finalize the shape of your spoon and smooth it out to the shape you want it to be.

Step 7: Finish Your Spoon

Finish your spoon by pouring tung oil or any other non toxic oil or finish on the spoon and rubbing it in. make sure the oil is completely rubbed in, let it dry and congratulations your done!
