How to Make an Apple-Pecan Pie

Introduction: How to Make an Apple-Pecan Pie

About: I'm pretty much a scrapper when it comes to my projects. I like to use what ever I have lying around the house.

This is a mix of an apple and pecan pie that I made. Its just a small pie that serves 4 people (4 small slices). It takes about 1 hour to prepare and 30 minutes to bake. Enjoy!

Gather your ingredients:

Pie Shell:
3/4 cup of flour
1 pinch of salt
1 pinch of white sugar
1/4 cup of butter
1 egg yolk
3 tablespoons of cold water (add more if necessary)

1/4 cup of brown sugar, white sugar and cinnamon (mix equal amounts of each to get 1/4 cup)
1/4 cup of pecans
1/4 cup of butter
1 tablespoon of (dark) corn syrup
1 egg
1 tsp of flour
1/4 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1/4 teaspoon of imitation rum extract

1 semi-sweet apple (peeled, cored, and sliced thinly)
3 tablespoons of confectioners sugar
1/4 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
1/4 teaspoon of Imitation Rum Extract
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of water

Step 1:

First you need to make the pie shell.

Mix together the flour, salt, sugar, egg yolk, butter, and cold water (add more water if needed) in a small bowl. Knead the dough together until everything is thoroughly mixed.

Then roll the dough into a ball.

Refrigerate it for 20 minutes.

Step 2:

Now take the ball of dough and roll it out into a flat sheet. Then take it and put it into the dish that you are going to be making your pie in. Start placing the dough in the middle of the dish and work your way out to the corners. Make sure that there are no air bubbles.

Cut the excess edges leaving about 1/3 an inch hanging. Wrap the edges in to give a border to the pie.

Refrigerate the pie shell for at least 20 minutes.

Step 3:

Mix together your brown sugar, white sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.

Add the butter and fluff it together with the sugar and cinnamon.

Now add the egg, vanilla extract, imitation rum extract, and corn syrup.

Chop the pecans into small chunks. Add half of the pecans to the mix.

Pour the mix into the pie.

Last sprinkle the remaining pecan on top of the mix inside the pie.

Step 4:

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.

Chop your apple into thin slices.

Arrange the apple pieces inside the pie. Start at the corners and work your way into the center.

Step 5:

Now you are going to prepare a glaze for the top of the pie.

Mix together the confectioners sugar, vanilla extract, imitation rum, cinnamon, and water.

Use a brush to apply the glaze to the top of the apples.

Now put the pie in the oven and bake it for about 30 minutes or until the crust appears ready.

Now eat! :-)
