Introduction: How to Redeem an Xbox 360 Live Code or Make a Marketplace Purchase From Your Computer!

Have you gotten an Xbox 360 live code from an online contest? Do you want to start an Xbox 360 download from anywhere (near a computer) and have it ready to download when you start your Xbox? Do you want to browse the Xbox 360 Marketplace with a keyboard and mouse, and the ability to search?

This instructable is for YOU!

As you may, or may not now, with the roll out of NXE Microsoft has brought a new feature to the Xbox website, read on to learn more!

Step 1: What You Need

Things you need:

~ The Windows Live ID you used when signing up for your GamerTag
~ Your Xbox 360
~ High Speed internet connection
~ The password for said ID
~ A Computer that is connected to the internet
~ An Xbox Live code or a credit card

Step 2: Step 1: Xbox.com

Start up you computer and open your web browser of choice.

Now point your browser toward http://www.xbox.com/

Once this page loads you will need to click the link at the top, right-hand corner of the page that says "Sign In" (see picture for detail)

Once that page loads continue to step 2!

Step 3: Step 2: Signing In!

Remember that Windows Live ID and password we talked about in "What you need!"? Well now you need it.

You Windows Live ID is likely your email, you will need to enter that in where the sign in page says
"E-Mail Address"

Got that? Good!

Now type in your password in the, you guessed it, "Password" field!

Now click "Sign In" and move on to step 3!

Step 4: Step 3: Going to the Market!

Now that you are all signed in, you will need to navigate over to the Marketplace.

Right above you Tag and Gamer Pic you should see a link that says "Marketplace" click the link, and while it is loading continue to Step 4!

Step 5: Step 4: Redeeming Your Code!

Once you are in the Marketplace you will need to go to the "Redeem Code" page.

To do this click on "My Account" and a drop down menu should open, from there click "Redeem Code"!

Once the "Redeem Code" page loads, enter in your 25 character code, and click redeem.

Here you will be confronted with one of three outcomes.

Outcome 1: If you entered in a Xbox Gold Redemption Code you will immediately see you subscription level change to Gold, good job! You are done and can now return to gaming.

Outcome 2: If you entered in a code for Microsoft Points (either from a card purchased at a store like Gamestop or an instant code from a place like Amazon.) you will immediately see points added to your account, good job! Continue on to the next step to find out what to do with them!

Outcome 3: If you entered in a code for a specific item (Such as a game code purchased from Amazon or Gamestop, or a game add on that you won, or purchased) you will be presented with a conformation page and the option to "Download to Xbox 360", click it and go to Step 7!

Step 6: Step 5: Shopping Spree!

So you have your shiny new points and you are thinking, what now? Answer: SHOPPING TIME!

Go back to the Marketplace and browse around till you find something you want, you could rent a movie, or get some new songs for Rockband.

Once you have your merch picked out click "Download to Xbox 360"!

This will pull up a page that will show what you are getting and how much it costs, at the bottom of the page will be a link that says "Confirm" click that, and click Step 6!

Step 7: Step 6: Queued Up! Turned On! Conclusion!

You have now added your downloads to your Xbox 360's Queue. This means all that delicious content is out there waiting for you!

Now you need to go home and cut your Xbox 360 on and watch as your content starts downloading, all without having to deal with the Marketplace directly from your Xbox!
