How to Sew a Beret

Introduction: How to Sew a Beret

About: Hello, my name is Aniela and I want to warmly welcome you %(^-^)%. I love widely understood DIY. I hope my tutorials will help you making your life better and funnier. My blog : http://anielskaaniela.b...

Marc Jacobs berets and winter! were my inspiration to create this beret. I used old 100% wool sweater in beautiful petrol color. Wool is very warm and perfect for winter but you may use different fabric, the most important thing is that this fabric should be elastic. Sewing beret is easy and if you'll use few tricks, which I showed in tutorial, it will be even easier.

Step 1: Before

I used old wool sweater in beautiful petrol color to sew this beret.

This sweater was very warm so I hope beret will be similar and will be able to wear it during winter.

Step 2: Sewing

cut out parts of a beret according to pattern in ealier step (photo 1)

put right sides together and stitch them (photo 2)

iron out and cut out little triangles to finish round edges (photo 3)

measure the length of a belt on yourself and add 0.39 inch for seampin the belt to beret, stretch a bit and sew on (photo 4)

''raw'' ready beret :-) (photo 5)

Step 3: Ready Beret

ready beret on me

warm and super comfortable

Are the triangles necessary for the beret? Or can I do the beret without the small triangles?
