Sometimes, when you try cooking something so simple, turns out disastrous! This is my never fail easy-to-follow toasted hamburger bun recipe. There are a number of ways to toast hamburger buns, but for me the easiest way is on the stove.

Step 1: Ingredients

2 Tbsp. unsalted butter

2 hamburger buns

Step 2: Directions:

Put a medium sized skillet on a stove burner set to “Medium” heat.

* Don’t use a higher heat setting. Higher heat causes the bun to brown or burn quickly. Allow the pan to heat for approximately 30 seconds.

Step 3:

Melt the butter. Split open the bun and brush melted butter over the cut sides of both halves.

* Make sure to coat the entire cut side, including the edges, doing so helps the edges from burning.

Step 4: Toasting:

Add two buns to skillet, toasting only cut sides of buns. Toast, without moving, until both cut surfaces turn light golden brown.

Step 5:

Check the buns after 9-11 seconds,( I count "one thousand one,one thousand two, one thousand three" then I check the toasting process).

Step 6:

If when checking, the bun is too light, continue toasting, and toast to desired doneness.

* Don't leave the stove, and keep checking to avoid buns from burning !!!!!

Step 7:

Remove buns from the pan and use it immediately. Or toast buns 30 minutes to 1 hour ahead of time , simply cover with a warm towel (helps to keep buns from drying out) until ready to use.

Step 8: Why Toast?

When toasting, burgers and sandwiches taste better because the buns do not soak up the juices of the ingredients. You can toast anything, from hamburger buns, grinder rolls, hotdog buns to assorted yeast breads and rolls!!

As a point of interest.... you should toast your bread in a skillet with Mayo instead of butter. All the high end restaurants do this. Its the reason your burgers are always missing that little something that you cant replicate what you had at the restaurant.

This works for any bread, and the results are heavenly. Browning bread and butter together is delicious!

Try raisin bread. Toasting brings out the natural sweetness.
