How to Wash a Tennis Ball in Under 1 Minute

Tennis balls are fun. Aside from playing tennis with them, you can bounce them around, fiddle with them, and play fetch with your dog. There are even some life hacks with tennis balls.

There is one problem, though.

They have fuzz and fuzz is a magnet for dirt. When the dirt sticks to it, it doesn't want to come off. Unless you want to let it soak for a long time.

In this Instructable I will show you how to clean these balls in less than a minute!

You may want to do this outside, unless you don't mind everything within 5 meters of you getting drenched with muddy water.

Supplies

Mud and grime

A tennis ball

A hose with a small opening (or a tap if you don't mind the lack of aim)

Soap

Step 1: Make the Ball Muddy.

Let it attract dirt on its own, or rub it in the mud.

Step 2: Grab a Hose.

A I am using a washing machine hose.

If your hose has a high pressure mode, that's perfect.

If it doesn't, put it on max and cover some of the opening with your finger, and it will do for an improvisation.

The same applies to taps.

Step 3: Blast the Ball.

Hold the ball in front of the pressure, and blast away as much dirt as possible.

Don't worry about the stubborn stuff, we will get to it in the next step.

I don't have a picture of the ball being blasted because my phone is not water resistant.

Step 4: Rub in a Lot of Soap.

Use approximately 2 pumps of handwash.

Don't use alcohols or harsh chemicals.

Only use soaps that are suitable for skin.

Rub the ball thoroughly but gently.

Step 5: Repeat Step 3.

Blast the ball again.

Step 6: The Ball Is Clean.

Now you can either let it dry on its own, or bounce it around until all the water gets shaken off.

You could also use a hair dryer, but it might get too hot.
