Hi, can I use zinc oxide instead of battery to mix with copper sulphate?

Is this a cost effective way to get the zinc sulfate and the copper? Just curious if it would be cheaper to order these materials premade. Zinc from batteries is cheap, but I'm not sure what the weed killer costs for how much copper it produces. Thanks for the 'able.

I've ripped up some batteries recently. There wasn't much in them of any use. No zinc. What do you do with zinc sulphate anyways?
