Introduction: How to Make Traditional Bourbon Balls

These traditional Kentucky candies are great for a Derby party or any special occasion.

Step 1: What You Need...


  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 4 T. Bourbon
  • 1 large package semi-sweet chocolate chips (real chocolate, not imitation)
  • 1 T. paraffin wax

Step 2: First...

Cream butter and sugar then add chopped pecans. Mix well and add in the Bourbon.

Step 3: Then...

Chill for an hour to make it easier to handle then roll into small balls. Refrigerate overnight.

Step 4: Once This Is Done...

Melt the chocolate and paraffin in a double boiler until smooth and well mixed. Dip the chilled Bourbon balls into the chocolate and place on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper.

Step 5: Finally...

Chill until hard... enjoy!
