    I did slightly more yoga-like versions of these (including a reverse plank) when I first started kickboxing. The stabilizer strength is vital for holding everything in place during various impacts. As a side benefit, most of the lower back problems that have haunted me through my twenties disappeared.

    I agree. I have lower back problems so I have to make sure I do these correctly, but very helpful for stabilizing. Core strength is so important.
