Introduction: Intel Aero Drone - Downward Facing RealSense Camera

The Aero drones come with a nifty Intel ® RealSense™ Camera, and having such a powerful and intelligent 3D camera looking out in front for your Aero is pretty nifty too. But do you know what else is cool? That's right, you can turn your forward facing Intel ® RealSense™ Camera into a downward facing Intel ® RealSense™ Camera. Imagine the possibilities...
This process will take just 30-45 minutes.
Step 1: Collect Materials
For materials, all you will need is
- 1x 3D printer with 9cm x 4cm print area minimum
Step 2: Print the Part
You'll only need to print one part. Download the STL here
Send the STL into your favorite 3D printing software and print. This mount takes about 30 minutes to print and when printed in ABS, weighs in at 4 whole grams.
Step 3: Unscrew Top and Front Screws
Unscrew the screws shown in the images. There are two on top (small) and two in front (large). Be sure to save these screws.
Step 4: Screw in the Large Screws
Screw the large screws back in over the mount exactly where you took them out. Just pull your Intel ® RealSense™ Camera to the side to put the screws in.
Step 5: Screw in the Small Screws
Turn your Intel ® RealSense™ Camera so that the cameras are facing down. Screw the small screws over the mount into the top which is now facing forward.
