Introduction: Attach a Starbucks Account Barcode to an ID Badge

If you work near a Starbucks and wear a work ID badge, you might like this practical tip. If you pay for your coffee using Starbuck’s account barcode from your smartphone to pay at the cash register, but find the process of calling up the barcode tedious, the following “How-To” will instruct you on how to create your very own ID badge payment card.

Step 1: Take a Snapshot of Your Starbucks Card Bar Code on Your Smartphone

Navigate to your Starbucks card on your smartphone, and have the card visible as if you are paying.  Take a “snapshot” of the card.  On an iPhone, click the power button and home button at the same time for just a second. On an Android 4.0 phone, just press the volume down and power buttons at the same time, hold them for a second, and your phone will take a screenshot. Retrieve the snapped photo of the Starbucks barcode from your phone, and either mail it to yourself or move it to a location that you can retrieve on a computer.

Step 2: Email or Upload the Starbucks Code Screenshot to Access on Your Computer

Open the screenshot image of your Starbucks card on your computer, and crop so that only the bar code is remaining.  On a Mac, use Preview to crop, and on a PC, either use Paint or MS Word.  Save the cropped out bar code as a JPG on your computer.

Step 3: Print Out the Cropped Out Starbucks Card Bar Code

Print your cropped Starbucks card bar code using either plain paper or onto small address labels (I used Avery 5160 labels).  Make sure the barcode will fit on the back of your work ID badge before printing.

Step 4: Affix Your Starbuck’s Bar Code to Your Work ID Badge

Either peel off and add your Starbucks bar code as a label, or tape it to your ID badge using clear tape to attach.  Once on, this is what it should look like:
