How to Make a DIY Jolly Rancher Lip Balm

Materials:

-Eos Container

-Jolly ranchers

-Microwave

-Hot Water

Paper Towels

-Soap

-Cup/Bowl

-Knife

-Garbage Bag

Step 1: Get an EOS Container

First you need to grab a EOS container. Your EOS container can be any color or pattern that you want. You might want to think about what flavor of Jolly Rancher you want and then decide what color you want. This will be the main component to the project along with the Jolly Ranchers.

Step 2: Take Out the Lip Balm

After you have chosen your container, you want to take out the lip balm. This way when you have the Jolly Rancher in it there won’t be any lip balm on you Jolly Rancher. You want to use you knife to peel the lip balm out of the container so there is as little as you can. Make sure to have an adult to help you will this because it can be dangerous.

Step 3: Take Out the Grate

You will also need an adult to help you with this because you will be using a knife again. Ask your adult to take the knife and stick it into the hole next to “thumb print” part of the capsule. The adult will have to wiggle the knife into the capsule, then start wiggling the knife under the grate into it pops out. (This may take a few minutes so just be careful that you don’t cut yourself). Make sure you save the grate because you will need it later.

Step 4: Clean Out the Container

After you have taken out the grate, you will find that there is some more lip balm under the grate. What you want to do is heat up a pot of water. After the water is hot, put the EOS container into the hot water and let it sit for at least 5 minutes. After 5 minutes take a paper towel and clean/dry it out. Once you are done, if there is still some lip balm left, stick it into the dishwasher and wash it out or repeat putting it in the hot water.

Step 5: Pick Your Jolly Ranchers

This is a key step. You get to pick what flavor of Jolly Ranchers you want to have in your EOS. Once you have decided what flavor you want get, take five to seven Jolly Ranchers and unwrap them. Once you’ve unwrapped one put the Jolly Rancher in the cup or bowl that you choose(the cup or bowl has to be microwave safe) and the wrapper in the garbage can. Continue doing that until all of your Jolly Ranchers are in the cup and all of the wrappers are in the garbage.

Step 6: Put Grate Into Cap

After you have chosen your Jolly Ranchers, take the grate from earlier and stick it in the cap of the EOS container. This will end up being the part you pour the melted Jolly Rancher in. So make sure to keep it clean and not break it.

Step 7: Melt the Jolly Ranchers

This step you’ll have to be quick. Get your Jolly Ranchers in a cup or bowl and put them into the microwave. You want to melt your Jolly Ranchers in 20 second increments. After they are fully melted quickly pour the melted Jolly Ranchers into the cap with the grate so the Jolly Ranchers don’t harden. You have to be really careful while doing this because the Jolly Ranchers are very hot and if you spill anything it can burn you and stick to you or the surface. You might want to ask an adult to help you with this step. Another reason to be careful is because the cap isn’t a flat surface so it will be wobbly. If you ask a parent to help you can hold the cap steady while the adult pours the melted Jolly Ranchers into the cap(or you can find anyway for both people to work together).

Step 8: Put Cap in Freezer

After you have put the Jolly Ranchers in the cap, if you want to start enjoying it as fast as possible, then leave it in the freezer for 30 minutes, but if you don’t care how long it will take then leave it in the fridge for a while until it is fully hardened and cooled.

Step 9: Clean Up

After you have put your your Jolly Ranchers in the fridge or freezer you have to clean up your mess. If you spilled along the way, make sure to clean that up so it doesn’t stain or break anything. Also put away any sharp objects you used so you don’t get hurt.

Step 10: Enjoy

After everything is cleaned. Attach the bottom end to the cap(top) with the grate and Jolly Rancher in it. Now you can finally enjoy you creation. Make sure not to eat it too fast so you don’t have to make anymore.
