Step 1: Gather Materials
- 2x2 foot sheet of plywood (half in thick)
- 2 3/4 in hinges
- 8 small screws (for hinges)
- 2 1 inch wood screws
- stain of your choice
- Gorilla glue
- screw driver or drill
Step 2: Cut Out Your Main Front Pieces
I cut out a 10 7/8 x 8 1/8 main piece and two long pieces for the front. One was 8 1/8 x 1 1/4 and the other was 1 5/8 x 8 1/8. I did this sing a band saw. These pieces were a half inch thick.
Step 3: Cut Out Side Pieces
Cut out two triangles that are 5 3/8 x 9 1/8 at 60 degrees.
Step 4: Sand
Sand down the pieces either using a belt sander or disk sander. I used 180 grit sand paper for sanding my pieces.
Step 5: Glue the Back
Glue the two triangles to the back using gorilla wood glue, putting the long side up. Let that sit for an hour for maximum strength.
Step 6: Drill Pilot Holes/ Screw in Screws
Drill two pilot holes on the back and then screw in the two 1 inch screws using either a phillips head screw driver or a drill with phillips head attachment bit.
Step 7: Drill Pilot Holes for Hinges/ Screw Them in
Mark the screw holes on last remaining piece and the screwed in piece with a marker or pencil. Then drill out the pilot holes with a 1/16 drill bit. Finally screw in the screws with a very small screw driver.
Step 8: Stain
I used a mahogany stain for mine, but its up to the builder for what stain to use.
Step 9: Sit Back and Admire Your Project
Good luck, have fun with the project. make it your own.
