Kids Voice Changing Robot Costume

Introduction: Kids Voice Changing Robot Costume

This was a costume we made for 7 year old Thomas 2 Halloweens ago. It was made from cardboard boxes, 2 aluminum cans with LEDs for the eyes, foil tape, dryer duct, a Velleman voice changer kit, and a VU meter circuit I slapped together to animate the mouth. Very simple to make, and the response from the other kids was AMAZING! By far the most satisfaction we've ever gotten with the least amount of effort for Halloween. If you have any other questions regarding the build, let me know and I'll hopefully be able to answer them for you.

I finally got around to taking more photos of the Robot Costume, and putting together a step by step instructable on how I built it... It can be found here:

    Good luck!

Can you PLZ PLZ PLZ make a video tutorial to how to make the mouth plz? I couldn't understand a word he was saying! That's cool because that's Robot/Human language LOL!

I'll second that! Would love to know the secrets behind the voice changer and LED mouth!

I can't tell what he was saying. For my voice changer I use a guitar pedal and a non-powered lapel mic that's connected to an in-line power source, the output of the pedal is connected to two daisy chained X-Mini II speakers. [Does not work with all pedals.]

Not only is the costume adorable - the video is one of the best things I've ever seen. I love it so much - I'm watching it for the second time right now.

Thanks very much! I had hoped to put together a full write up, but realized we never took any pics during the build... I'll have to put together something in the future. It was quite simple to make, so putting together a writeup should be simple too! :)
