About: Hello! I am an artist who has decided to try cake decorating after a close friend suggested it. I have been making cakes since August of 2010. I'd watched a lot of the various cake shows on TV and decided to...

I didn't have time to document this and make it into an Instructable but thought I'd post the photo and if anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to try to answer them! :) This is an orca cake I made as a sugar angel for Icing Smiles for a young girl who likes killer whales. The orca is rice cereal treats covered in fondant and made to look wet. The water is cake covered in crusting buttercream, with royal icing for the waves/white caps. The message plaque is hand painted on gum paste and the shells are fondant. The cake is vanilla with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream filling.

I would love to get more details on how you made this to make for my daughters college graduation party. She is getting her BA in marine science and this would be perfect. Can you tell me more about how the orca was made.
