Introduction: Kitty LED Lamp

About: It is the creativity that draws me towards architecture - the ability of an architect to create a living organism from dead matter, from a heap of amorphous materials and to blow a soul into it. Architecture r…

This is a very simple and yet very cool project. Everybody can do it.

What you need:

  • access to a laser
  • 1 opaque acrylic sheet 3mm, it's also called plexiglas, or PMMA - min size 26x21cm
  • 1 transparent acrylic sheet 3mm- min size 23x14cm
  • LED strip.
  • superglue

Step 1: Laser Cutting

Remove the protective foil from top part of transparent acrylic sheet, .It is going to be heavily engraved so it will be pretty awful job to remove it afterwards :)

Cut out both PDF files.

Plexi Opaque.pdf for opaque sheet

Plexi Transparent.pdf for transparent sheet

Step 2: Remove Foil

Remove foil and unecessary pieces

Tip. You can use leftover pieces to create a cat face as a decoration for something :)

Step 3: Assembly

Assemble and glue bottom part from the opaque and transparent ovals. Transparent on the botton,

Assemble and glue the cat. Transparent in the middle, and two opaque cats from each side.

Once you are done, glue 10cm long LED strip (which should have 9 mm) to the base

Glue two rectangles from both sides, verify that the cat will fit between them.

You can also glue two small rectangles from the sides, but it's not necessary.

Step 4: Voila, You Have a Glowing Cat! :)

Enjoy!
