K'nex Nativity

Introduction: K'nex Nativity

About: Hello! I'm Nerfrocketeer, also known as Nefrock', Nerf, or NK. I am an avid fan of Nerf wars, engineering, and animal activism (but no I don't go overboard). Thank you for A MILLION views (woah!) and making ...

Many many years ago, in a manger in Bethlehem, Israel, Jesus Christ was born to Mary, Joseph, and the world. At Christmas, many people commemorate the event, which is the true origin of our modern-day holiday, by building a nativity, or model of the manger scene.

You can build your own special holiday manger scene out of K'nex to celebrate Jesus' birthday and create a fun reminder of the true meaning of Christmas!

Step 1: Parts

You will need:

-28 white connectors
-4 blue connectors
-8 yellow connectors
-2 blue plates
-32 grey connectors
-14 red connectors
-6 orange connectors
-109 green rods
-44 white rods
-3 grey separators
-3 blue separators
-4 black caps
-4 blue caps
-1 "Y" connector
-4 small black wheels

Step 2: Floor

Take four white connectors, and connect them using green rods. Repeat to get three rows, and connect the rows using green rods.

Step 3: Wall Bases

Take two grey connectors and slide them together as shown. Repeat to get ten pieces. Connect the pieces to the floor piece using green rods as shown. Next, attach two red connectors to the corners using green rods. Fill in all spaces using white rods.

Step 4: The Manger Scene

Build the two pieces of the manger. Next, slide in two white rods with black caps. Attach it to the center of the floor by inserting the white rods through the centers of the white connectors.

Next, build Mary and Joseph figurines. Attach them to the floor in the same was as the manger.

Finally, build a piece to represent the baby Jesus, and place it in the center of the manger by sticking the "Y" connector through the gap in the floor.

Use small black wheels under the floor to secure all parts of the scene besides the baby in place.

Step 5: Walls

Attach white connectors to the wall bases using green rods. Add two more red connectors to the corners as well.

Step 6: Roof; Part One

Slide a blue connector and a grey connector together as shown. Repeat to get two pieces, and connect using a green rod. Add two white connectors. Slide four grey connectors together as shown to get two 3D grey pieces. Attach them to the rest of the piece using green rods.

Repeat this entire step to get two roof pieces, and attach to the walls using green rods to form an angle.

Step 7: Roof; Part Two

Build the center roof piece, and attach it to the rest of the nativity using green rods. Next, take two white connectors and arch them over the roof using green rods.

Step 8: Back Wall

Attach two blue plates to two yellow connectors as shown and attach them to the back wall using green rods.

Step 9: Done!

Congratulations! Your K'nex nativity is now complete! Have a merry Christmas and a great time this holiday!
