Step 1: Measurements

(see picture) Take the cup/mug you want to use it on and measure X and Y. At Y ( the circumference) leave a bit for the ear and that it’s able to stretch (I took 2 cm but an inch would be okay too)

Step 2: KNIT

Start with as many rows until you got it X long (maybe a little longer, it does shrink a little) Then KNIT until it’s as long as Y. Be creative with the pattern if you can. (If not, remember you can always decorate it later) REMEMBER to knit loosely

Step 3: Finish Your Knitting

Finish the knitting the way you’re used to.

Step 4: Buttons and Finish

thread a new piece of wool (the same one preferably) and put on the buttons the way you like it. tie the ends under the buttons and cut short. Make the loops from the same wool. First tie a good knot through the knit and then measure the loop by putting it around your mug and stretch it a little. It has to be snug around the mug but you still have to be able to take it off if you stretch it a little more. Do the same with the second loop. And finish. Decorate if you like.
