You take a ruler from the edge and measured out 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2. Then you do do it to the other side. After you finish cutting the wood, you're going to need to need chisel the wood.

Step 2: Step 2: the Stretchers

The size you need to cut the wood to 1/2 x 1/2 x 6 3/4, your going to need 8 stretchers.

Step 3: Step 3: Kumiko Panel

Now we get to make the actually kumiko panels. You can make the panels with any design you want. I'm going to tell you how to make the frame of the lamp. Your going to take basswood and cut the wood at 4 and a half.
