In this instructable, I will show how I made LED hearts to make a Valentine's Day flower bouquet a little more unique.
The idea for how to make the LED's came from this instructable:
How to make LED "throwies"
Step 1: Cutting the Hearts
First thing I did was cut out a heart stencil out of a piece of paper and I traced it onto a piece of scrap wood.
Using my handy rotary saw, I cut out the hearts. Then I sanded the wood to make the edges smooth.
Step 2: Painting
I spray painted the hearts with a cream color and splattered it with red spray paint.
Of course, this step is optional since decoration is up to whomever is making the project.
Step 3: Parts
I used the exact parts mentioned in the instructable that I linked to in the inrtoduction.
Red LED's, 3V lithium batteries and the hearts.
Step 4: Installing the LED's
I drilled a hole through the hearts with a bit that was the same width as the LED's and used super glue to hold them into place.
Step 5: Installing the Batteries
The LED wires were bent and connected to the battery. For the photo, I used clear tape as an example, but I went back and replaced it with blue painter's tape since it held better.
Step 6: The Stem
I used copper wire to make a stem and held it on with more tape.
The painter's tape will make it easier to remove the battery later for recycling when it runs out of power.
Step 7: The Finished Project
I inserted them into a bouquet for a unique touch.
The lights were really easy to make and can be adapted into limitless projects.
