LEGO Bioshock Big Daddy & Little Sister

About: I build stuff.

When I brought my LEGO build of Bioshock's Rapture to Brickworld 2011 in Chicago, fans of Bioshock wanted to play with the Big Daddy & Little Sister figures I had placed all around Rapture. Now you can build and play with your own. You will need a variety of LEGO specialty parts, so if you don't have some of these, you can find them on BrickLink.

I have one request! Please use these instructions for your own building pleasure. My design, the instructions and the photographs are all copyrighted. Blogging is fine. Building or copying for resale is not cool. Thanks!

To quote Andrew Ryan, "What is the difference between a man and a parasite? A man builds. A parasite asks 'Where is my share?' " So to you all you parasites out there - Enjoy!

Step 2: Bioshock Little Sister

This is pretty self explanatory. So just put her together. The syringe does go on a slight angle to make it look more like the Adam Extractor.

Step 3: Bioshock Big Daddy Parts

Here are the parts you should have set out for the Big Daddy.

Step 4: Big Daddy Body Assembly

Here are the steps for putting the center of the Big Daddy together. After completing this assembly, set aside and move on to next step.

Step 5: Big Daddy Face Unit

Build this unit to insert into the body, but set it aside until you have the body sides built in the next step.

Step 6: Big Daddy Side Body Pieces

Be sure and check the placement of all the unique parts for each side. Attach one side of the body, then grab the head you put together already in the last step and insert it under the whip before attaching the other side.

When you slip the dish under the whip, it does not click onto anything. The pressure of the whip should hold it in place, but it may slip out once in awhile.

Step 7: Big Daddy Leg Assembly

After completing the torso, this should be relatively easy. Put these aside until after you finish the arms in the next step. Or, if you're impatient, see if you can stick them on now....

Step 8: Big Daddy Arms Assembly

Be sure and check the placement of all the wrenches so they face the right direction. When the 3L Bar is inserted into the cone, leave a gap between the cone and the 1 x 1 with 4 Studs.

Step 9: Putting Big Daddy Together!

Now simply attach the legs and the arms. You can use a baseplate to secure the legs if you want. Then finally put the Little Sister with her Big Daddy!

Wow, this is an astonishingly feat of imagination and LEGO ingenuity. Very clear photos, too. I hope you entered into the GameLife challenge because this is a winner!

Hello, I was just wondering, since the creation of smaller ball and brick joints? If you could update the model. If not this would just fine because this is a matter of curiosity, not urgence.

    Thank you, Jody

Really cool! I've gotten all of the pieces and assembled him, but I can't get both legs to be flat at the same time. How did you do it?

When the legs are in a slightly bent position and spread apart a little, you should be able to face them out about 45 degrees each and then just bend the feet a little so they can sit flat. He typically stands better if he's walking, one leg out in front of the other a little. You can always attach him to a baseplate too. But he's really not designed to stand with perfectly straight legs. Does that answer your question?

I'm not going to be at DCC this year. I'll be at Brickworld Chicago instead. They're at the same time. As for the Big Daddy, you can email me directly here: imagine dot rigney at me dot com (obviously inserting the correct symbols for the one's spelled out) for more information.

Don't mention it no problem sucks that I can't find all the right parts
Can you tell me were you got them from?

If you go to the inventory list I have in the instructions, each of the parts is linked to the catalog page for it on BrickLink. So just click on the orange text for each part. Once you open that page, you can see what's for sale below the picture on the lower left. I would search for a store that has an inventory of several of the parts so you don't have to pay shipping from a bunch of BrickLink stores. If you haven't ordered from BrickLink before, check the feedback on the store before you order. Most of the stores are have good quality and ship out fast. But some are a little overpriced or slow at shipping out.
