LIFE SIZE EAGLE IN STEEL

Intro: LIFE SIZE EAGLE IN STEEL

SICK OF DRAWING BIRDS SO AS I WORK WITH STEEL I THOUGHT I WOULD MAKE ONE. MADE A SALMON FOR ITS TALON JUST TO MAKE IT MORE DRAMATIC. THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT 3D SCULPTURE.I INITIALLY DREW THE SHAPE OUT ON THE BENCH THEN BENT SOME 8MM ROUND BAR TO FORM THE ARMATURE THEN ADDED 2 MORE SLIGHTLY SMALLER ON EITHER SIDE. I BENT 3MM FLATS ROUND THE FRAME FOR FIXINGS ALL "FEATHERS" ARE CUT INDIVIDUALLY WITH THE PLASMA AND TACKED ON WITH MIG. THE SALMON WAS CUT IN 2 HALFS, BOWLED OUT WITH A BALL PEIN HAMMER, WELDED TOGETHER THEN DETAILED. THIS BIRD IS LIFE SIZE WITH A 2 METRE WING SPAN. HAVE SINCE DONE AN EAGLE OWL AND HALF WAY THROUGH AN OSPREY

Pretty awesome for a first attempt at 3-D metal sculpture. I used to use a ball peen hammer to make fish sculptures until a fellow artist suggested an air hammer like the body shops use. Way faster! Thanks for the follow.

PLEASE DON'T get offended-!, But the fish is too straight, needs to be hanging, like in real life. -But this is SOOO cool!, Thanks for sharing.

thats exactly why you need to see the sculpture in real life.. the fish isn't straight. I actually didn't make it for the bird I just noticed a small hole in the fin so I hooked it from the talon and it stayed there so I just left it.
    Thanks for comments

How much would you charge for one of these. I have one son who is an Eagle Scout, and one about to make Eagle.

I have recently sold one for £3000. This one i use for advertising pictures and as its my first one im not sure i could sell it. I do smaller versions from £800 upwards depending on time scale involved. Material costs are fairly cheap its just the build time on these ones where the cost is
