Introduction: Lady Fingers

What you need:

1 box of cake mix (yellow, whitw, or red velvet)
1 container of red food color ( about 1/2 oz.)
1 can of frosting

pretzel sticks
candy coating (white and skin colored)

marcona almonds

Directions:

Follow the directions on the box (with the the addition of the food coloring).
Melt only the white candy coating , and dip the pretzel sticks half-way, and chill to firm
Once thecake cooled completely, break apart into a fine crumb (think bread crumbs)
Add the frosting to the crumbs and mix to fully combine, then chill to firm
Take a rounded tablespoon of the cake to form the "flesh" around the dipped pretzel "bone", then chill to firm.
Re-melt the white coating and just enough of the colored coating to get the desired tone (I used just a little pink)
Dip the shaped cake to form the "skin", chill to firm.
To adhere the marcona almond (for fingernails), drop a tiny amount of the coating to the back of the almond and attach to the tip of the "finger". chill for 5 minutes to set the alond in place
At this point, the "finger" are ready. For a llitle detail, I used a little royal icing to act as nail polish.
