Introduction: $10 Land Paddle
UPDATE: Please check out version 2.0 at: https://www.instructables.com/id/Land-Paddle-V2/
Version two requires less time, money and parts!!!
Make a land paddle for under $10.
I actually got enough materials to make two kid sized paddles (about 5 foot each) and it cost less than $20.
I Find that this paddle grips better than my $100 Big "name brand" Paddle.
Step 1: Gather Materials
1 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe cut to your desired length. Note: The T handle and rubber bottom will add approximately 5" to overall length
1 1/2 inch schedule 40 TEE
2 1/2 inch schedule 40 extender
1 1/2 inch schedule 40 coupling
1 heavy-duty force cup plunger
Step 2: Make Extenders Fit Into Pipe
Having access to a lathe, I chose to shave down the extenders to fit inside of the PVC pipe.
One could also use a 1" coupler and appropriate size extender to avoid this step.
Step 3: Prep Plunger
Cut the more flexible part of the plunger off. We are interested in the thicker part near the handle.
Using a hole cutter, cut out the middle if the plunger.
Press the coupling into the plunger.
Step 4: Assemble and Glue
Glue the whole thing together, let dry and attach TEE and plunger !
