Introduction: Laundry Spring Pole

One of the most boring housekeeping duties in my dorm is laundering, I want my laundry pole to be smart, somewhat automatic and quick.

You might not have time to make your dorm better, because you have to spend most of your time to do homework or research... Yes I know that, DON'T WORRY. This can be made super easily and quickly!

The "Laundry Spring Pole" I made can solve several problems such as;

・You can dry them out at even intervals when you hang the laundry on each ring with hangers.

・These intervals prevent the laundry from gathering in strong wind.

・In addition, when you take off the fastener, the laundry is automatically moved to the end of the pole and you can take them off easily and quickly.

Step 1: Prepare the Required Items and Tools

To create “Laundry Spring Pole”, You have to prepare the items shown below.

・A steel pole (1.8 m)

・Hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro®)

・Stainless split rings

・Thread

・A wire

・Cellophane adhesive tape (Scotch tape®)

・A spring which has enough inner diameter to insert the steel pole

・A drill or a hole punch

・Scissors

・Hammer

Step 2: Drill Holes in the Steel Pole

Drill two holes on one end of the steel pole so that the wire can go through it. The distance from the end to the holes should be 1 or 2 cm.

Step 3: Insertion and Fixing

Insert the pole into the spring. Then, thread the wire through the holes. Twisting the wire can fix the one end of the spring on the end of the pole.

Step 4: Attach a Male Hook-and-loop Fastener

Cut a male hook-and-loop fastener (Velcro) 4-cm long. Then, attach it to the other end of the steel pole.

Step 5: Attach a Female Hook-and-loop Fastener

Tie up the other end of the spring with the thread. And, cut a female hook-and loop fastener (Velcro) 6-cm long. Then, fix the one edge of the female Velcro on the end of spring with the cellophane adhesive tape. You should attach the Velcro so that its sticking side faces inward (NOT OUTWARD).

Step 6: Fit the Stainless Split Rings to Be Complete

Then, stretch the spring and attach it to the other end of the pole with hook-and-loop fastener. Then, fit nine or more stainless split rings into the spring evenly. Here, creating “Laundry Spring Pole” is completed!

When you hang the laundry on each ring with hangers, you can dry them out at even intervals. These intervals prevent the laundry from gathering in strong wind. In addition, when you take off the fastener, the laundry is moved to the end of the pole and you can take them easily and quickly.

We hope you make the "Laundry Spring Pole" to make your dorm better and more comfortable.
