Introduction: Lego Wine Glass Charms

I love Lego! And if I ever marry, my beloved will have to love Lego too. It's non-negotiable! A Lego wedding is totally plausible. I'm pretty sure my parents will approve. But even if I never get married, these lovely little Lego wine glass charms are cute and lots of fun. Everyone who sees them demands that I make them some! These ones are made with Lego Star Wars microfigures, which are just awesome and deserve to be seen. But you can make them with bricks, minifigure heads, or any other cool bits of Lego you can bear to use. And if you don't drink, don't worry! These are just as good used to make your tea or coffee mug that little bit more special!

Step 1: Gather Materials

You will need:

  • Lego I used microfigures here, but you can use bricks, minifigure heads, or any other bits of Lego you like
  • Wine hoops You can wrap your own wire if you choose, butyou can buy them ready made for very little on ebay
  • Screw-in eyelet bails These can be tricky to get hold of in the shops but are readily available online. The ones I used are 8 x 4 mm
  • Beads I used silver seed beads as they looked good with the microfigures, but use any colour that co-ordinates with the Lego you are using

You will also need a pair of pliers

Step 2: Minor Lego Surgery

So... I guess this might be sacrilige to some, but you will need to add bails to your Lego so you can hang them as charms. Most Lego is soft enough that the bails will screw straight in using just a pair of pliers; you can use a fine 1mm drill bit to drill a hole first if you prefer, but do be careful as the drill will create enough heat to melt the Lego!

Step 3: Assemble the Wine .charms

Once you are able to hang your Lego, it is time to assemble the wine charms. Thread one bead onto the wire. Then add one of the Lego charms, and finish with another bead.

Step 4: Make Your Drinks That Bit More Awesome!

Once you have done that, your wine glass charms are complete! All you need to do now is hook them round the stems of your glasses or round the handles of your mugs, then sit back and enjoy the awesomeness!
