Introduction: Magnetic Monkey Fist

About: I am a Hobbyist maker.

Have you ever wanted to make a monkey fist? Have you ever wanted to make a magnetic monkey fist?
Well now is your chance to do so, with this easy to follow guide (At least that is my intent).

Supplies:

To start with you will need to get a couple of things,

First, you will need the magnetic core, I used a 1" round Magnetic buzzer toy

Second, you will need about 6' feet of paracord(Any color).

You will also need a lighter and scissors.

Step 1: Starting and Adding the Core

The first thing you will need to do is pinch one end between your thumb and ring finger after you do that wrap it around your ring finger and pointer finger four times.

Once that is done you will wrap it around horizontally two times, that is when you want to add the Magnetic core, After adding the core you need to wrap it an additional two times

Step 2: Securing the Core So It Can't Come Out

when you have done all of your horizontal wraps you will need to take the long end and thread it through the center, then bring it down on the backside and pass it through the bottom center.

after you have done that you can take it off your hand then do the remaining three wraps.

Step 3: Removing the Slack

Making sure to leave a 1/4 inch on the short end start one half-loop past the short end and pull till it is just snug, work your way around to the long end. I found going around twice got the snugness that I wanted.

Step 4: Finishing Touches

After you have tightened the paracord around the core it is time to cut the little tail off,

so cut it about 1/8 of an inch from the monkey fist then use the lighter to melt it so it does not fray, then use the flat part of your scissors to smash it against the monkey fist.

Step 5: Outro

And then voila, Your very own MAGNETIC Monkey fist is complete, If you wanted to you can do a simple loop on the other end so it can be used as a keychain.

I hope you found my first ever Instructable helpful.
