Make Sandpaper Last Longer

I found myself changing out paper on my electric sander, too often due to premature

tearing near the tucked in edges. (pic 2) I solved this by covering the back of the sheets

with clear packing tape. (pics 3 & 4) Masking tape works, in a pinch, and is better by far

than no tape at all. (pics 5 & 6) Another use for duct tape maybe, if that's what you have

on hand. You can cover the entire back of the sheets, or just the edges.

Somebody showed me this where we had to sand for touch up on large equipment and it is amazing how it makes the sandpaper last up to ten fold.
