Today we are going to look at the VU meter, it's fundamentals and it's build.
By the end of this tutorial, you will have made your very own VU Meter!
Step 1: Watch the Video!
I have explained everything in detail in this video from the basics to the build. There is even a light show at the end which looks completely awesome!
Step 2: Order Your Parts!
You will need these for the build:
2 LM324 ICs.
7 N channel Mosfets. (I used 55NF06)
2 Solderboards of the same size.
LEDs (the number depends on your choice of word, I used 60 LEDs.)
IC sockets.(not mandatory but better if used).
1 47uF capacitor.
9 10K resistors.
1 51K resistor.
3 4.7K resistors.
2 100 ohm resistors.
6 1K resistors.
1 6.8K resistor.
1 2.2K resistor.
2 3.3K resistors.
1 Buck Converter / 500 ohm resistor(not recommended).
Step 3: Build the Circuit!
Complete the LED sign first and test it. Next do the electronics part keeping everything jam packed. Firmly fix the 2 PCBs together with nuts and bolts. Make sure no solder connects with the solder on the other side.
Step 4: Enjoy!
That's it! You have made your very own VU Meter!
