Make Your Own Hair Bows at Home

Hair bows and clips are currently the hottest trend, but purchasing these accessories is extremely costly. So, why spend the money when you can create your own hair bows with my free hair bow patterns?

Before you begin you will need some supplies:

• -scissors
• -alligator clip of your choice
• -3/8" grosgrain ribbon
• -7/8" grosgrain ribbon
• - hot glue gun with glue sticks
• -needle and thread

I received feedback that its hard to find alligator clips and ribbon without buying in bulk. Step 1: Lining the Clip

Step 1:

Measure out 4 inches of your 3/8" ribbon. Press the ends of the clip together and insert the ribbon between the prongs right to the back. Close the clip.

Step 2: Attach the Ribbon to the Clip

Step 2:

Next apply hot glue to the top of the alligator clip, and attach the ribbon.

Step 3: Finish Lining the Clip

Step 3:

Proceed to place the glue all along the clip, one section at a time, and placing ribbon as you go. When you get to the bottom of the outside of the clip open the clip once again and glue the remainder of the ribbon inside the clip so that the entire alligator clip is now completely lined.

Step 4: Making a 2 Inch Bow

Step 4:

Measure out 12 inches of your 7/8" ribbon.

Step 5: Folding the Ribbon

Step 5:

Fold the ribbon over as shown.

Step 6: Thread the Folded Ribbon

Step 6:

Use clips to ensure ribbon stays in place.  Thread your needle and sew all pieces together.

Step 7: Loop Once, Tie Twice

Step 7:

Loop around once, tie and tie again.  Cut excess thread.

Step 8: Form the Knot

Step 8:

Take another piece of 3/8" ribbon and form knot.  Attach knot to top of bow.

Step 9: Attach Clip to Bow

Step 9:

Attach bow to lined alligator clip
