Make a Secret Car Compartment!

About: I'm just a prankster and love life hacks

Nowadays protecting your valuables can be challenging especially when you're on the go, That's why I decided to make a little secret compartment inside my car. Only you'll know it's there because nobody would be able to find it, not only that but you'll have easy access to it. It's fairly cheap and the total cost was under $5.00. Let me show you how to make it. For video tutorial click here!!!

Materials/Tools you'll need:

Ice Breakers Mints Container
Mouse Pad
Double sided tape or gue

Step 1: Creating the Secret Compartment

The results may vary from car to car but for the most part it should work on any car that has a cup holder in between both front seats. For this instructable I'll be using a 5th Gen Camaro.

Most cup holder have rubber coasters inside, if your car doesn't come with them you can easily make one using a mouse pad.
Get the measurements of the circumference of the cup holder
Draw a circle outline on the mouse pad
Cut out the circle
Empty out the Ice Breakers Container
Place 2 pieces of double sided tape on top
Put your valuables inside such as money or keys
Lay down the mouse pad circle on top of the container, make sure it centered perfectly.

Now that you secret compartment is ready, simple put it inside the cup holder, should be a snug fit which is perfect for this.

Step 2: Safely Storing Your Valuables

Once you have your new secret compartment inside your cup holder, you can have a little piece of mind knowing your money or SD cards are safely tucked away.

The Ice Breakers Containers is the perfect size for this project because it doesn't take up a lot of room so you are still able to use your cup holder normally.

You can easily grab something you have stored inside such as money by opening the flap/lid. It's very flexible and once you get what you need simply snap it shut again.

nice share! Larry may be right, but so long as you remain cooperative and respectful with the law enforcement that pulls you over, you inform them ahead of time of ANYTHING that may be deemed questionable, and it won't be a problem. I have made false floorboards for concealing in the trunk and rear seats.

myOmy may not have given details but s/he have an important point. CHECK YOUR STATE LAWS BEFORE DOING THIS! A number of states HAVE passed laws SPECIFICALLY AGAINST installing ANY sort of hidden compartment in a car - for just that reason, smuggling drugs. There are several states that have passed laws that ASSUME you have established such a compartment for smuggling and take it as INTENT to do so, whether or NOT drugs are present when they find the compartment. This CAN result in years in prison and huge fines. How these kinds of cases will wind through the courts, I can't say, IANAL - but I WOULDN'T want to pay for the test case. Be careful. Realistically, the Tea Party's are right, there IS very little left of the Constitution left if the government decides it doesn't like you.

It's deep enough, at least for mine since one of the cup holders is actually an inch deeper than the other one. I thought it was perfect for this project
