Introduction: Making Spaghetti Al Pesto With Fresh Basil

Hello. We are back!!

We are university students in Korea, and we study English in groups. We want to improve our English, so please give us some feedback.

This is our 4th instructable: How to make basil pesto spaghetti.

Pesto
is a sauce which consists of crushed garlic, basil, and European pine nuts blended with olive oil and Parmesan cheese.
In general, pasta al pesto is made with Fettuccine, but we used Spaghetti. Our professor grew basil in his house and brought it for us to harvest and eat. Moreover, we used almonds instead of European pine nuts because they were too expensive.

Step 1: What You Need:

Ingredients:

     For pesto:
          fresh basil leaves (2 cups)
          olive oil (150-200 ml)
          almonds (1 handful)
          salt & pepper (to taste)
garlic (about 8 cloves-use a lot because it is delicious)
          Parmesan cheese (1 cup)

     For spaghetti:
          water
          spaghetti

     Equipment:
          pot
          mixer or hand blender
          fire (to make water hot)
          spatula
          knife
          chopping board

Step 2: Start Heating Water

1.It will take a long time to boil the water so start heating the water first.

2.Season the water with salt because it makes spaghetti taste better.

3.Put spaghetti in the pot when water boils.

4.Go to step 3.

Step 3: Making the Pesto

1. Pick the basil leaves, wash them, and put them into the mixer.

2. Put half of the olive oil, the garlic, salt and pepper, and almonds into the mixer.

3. Turn the mixer on.

4. Add the parmesan cheese and olive oil.

5. Mix again.

Step 4: Drain the Spaghetti

When the spaghetti is done, drain the water from the spaghetti.

Step 5: Toss and Eat!

Toss the pesto into the spaghetti.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
