Introduction: Making a Fire Symbol Out of an Alcohol Burning Stove

Step 1: Materials

for this project you will need two pop cans, a sharpie, a utility knife, a pushpin, wire cutters and a book

Step 2:

using a book to keep the pen level, draw a ring around the can about an inch from the top

Step 3:

using your utility knife, cut through the aluminum on the line you drew in the previous step.

Step 4:

using a pair of wire cutters or tin snips, cut 8 2 inch slits in the side of the can, equally spaced around the perimeter.

Step 5:

position the letters on the can to create some sort of symbol, then using the letters as a stencil,  create an outline of small holes with the pushpin

Step 6:

fill the lower can with 40 ml of denatured alcohol and replace the cap, wait about 20 seconds and hold a match close to the area with the holes. the gases from the alcohol will ignite, creating a burner in the shape of your symbol.
