Introduction: Marble Maze

Upcycling is when you reuse discarded objects or material in such a way that it creates a product of a higher quality or value than the original. It is a fun and easy way to apply one of the 3 "R"s in your own household. The 3 "R"S stand for reduce, reuse, recycle. Upcycling is a form of reuse in which you are making old things or trash into better things that can be used for beautification or alternate purposes. On the other hand in recycling you convert waste into reusable material and it doesn't necessarily have to be of higher quality. In this Instructable, I'll show you how to make a marble maze/marble labyrinth using materials and tools you can probably find laying around in your house or garage.

Materials:

  • Glue Gun
  • Marble
  • 2 Cardboard Boxes
  • Marker or something to make marks with
  • Scissors
  • Wax Paper
  • Wooden Blocks or Styrofoam blocks
  • Flat metal curtain rails

Step 1: Cut the Flaps Off the Boxes

Step 2: Coat the Bottom of One of the Boxes With Wax Paper.

Step 3: Draw Out the Diagram of Your Maze With a Marker

Might want to use a ruler for straight lines. For a pattern you may use mine shown.

Step 4: Using a Marble As a Guide Make Holes That on the Diagram All Over and at the End Section.

Step 5: After Cutting the Curtain Rails to the Right Size, Glue Them to Align With the Lines of the Diagram.

Step 6: In the Second Box Set Up Your Blocks As Wedges As Shown Above.

Glue the blocks to the box.

Step 7: Cut a Marble Sized Rectangular Flap in the Bottom Corner of the Second Box.

This is to retrieve the marble after a finished game.

Step 8: Slide the Maze Into the Second Box and You Are Done

Paint and design the exterior according to your taste.
